“The earth is what we all have in common.” – Wendell Berr
I think we all have a tendency to take the environment and our Earth for granted. With our day-to-day lives being so hectic, sometimes it slips our mind that we should be appreciative of our planet and our beautiful surroundings – given that, there is only one planet for us to live on after all! We are so excited to give back to Mother Nature this Saturday with our first beach clean-up, hosted by pro-surfer (and environmental advocate) Lakey Peterson.
Lakey’s blog, The Salty Coconut, dives into her perspective about who she is and what she is passionate about. She mentions that everyone can give back, and the best thing about it, is the freedom to choose something your passionate about.
Lakey’s main focus has been around water, and making sure everyone has clean water to drink and to keep the bodies of water throughout the world clean. Check out an organization she works with called “H40, Hands4Others”. It’s dedicated to installing wells and clean-water systems in parts of the world that don’t have clean water, or access to it. Lakey is involved in so many great causes – she is a true inspiration!
In addition to our beach clean-up, we have partnered with Equinox to host a morning yoga stretch from 930 – 10AM. Take 30 minutes out of your day for you – relax your mind and stretch your limbs!
We can’t forget the reason why some of us get out of bed = coffee! Portola Coffee Lab will be handing out complimentary cups of coffee. Since they don’t open until June, come get a sneak peek taste of what they will bring to PC.
After the beach clean-up, stop by Equinox to grab your free tote bag with goodies (while supplies last). We will also have a raffle with some cool prizes provided by Lakey – don’t miss out!

Cruise down and feel inspired, not only by the great Pacific Ocean as our backdrop, but by the community coming together to give back. I challenge you to give back in whatever you are passionate about.
